Authors are encouraged to submit previously unpublished research papers in the broad field of content-based multimedia indexing and applications.
In addition to multimedia and social media search and retrieval, we wish to highlight related and equally important issues that build on content-based indexing, such as multimedia content management, user interaction and visualization, media analytics, etc.
Authors are invited to submit full length (6 pages – to be presented as oral presentation) and short papers (4 pages – to be presented as posters). The submissions are peer reviewed in a single blind process. The language of the workshop is English.
CBMI 2017 is calling for technical demonstrations that will be showcased at the workshop. The topics covered are the same as announced in the main call for papers, among them, but not exclusively, multimedia and social media search and retrieval, user interaction and visualization, multimedia content management and media analytics.
Authors are invited to submit their demo proposals as demo papers of 4 pages maximum. All peer-reviewed, accepted and registered papers will be published in the workshop’s proceedings. The demos will be presented at CBMI in a dedicated demo session. The submissions will be peer reviewed in single blind process and the workshop will be held in English.

For guidelines and submission procedure see Paper submission.
Papers solicited for special sessions, undergo the same rigorous reviewing process by anonymous and independent reviewers. If after the reviewing process less than 4 papers solicited for a special session are selected, the Special Session will be cancelled, and the solicited papers that passed reviewing will be presented within the main technical track of the workshop.
The CBMI proceedings are traditionally indexed and distributed by IEEE Xplore and ACM DL. In addition, authors of the best papers of the conference will be invited to submit extended versions of their contributions to a special issue of Multimedia Tools and Applications journal (MTAP).
An additional special issue of MTAP will accept the best papers of the conference.
