Yusuke SuganoInvited Speaker: Yusuke Sugano

Yusuke Sugano, Associate Professor at the University of Osaka, is the invited speaker at the Workshop. He will give the talk “Appearance-based Gaze Estimation from Ubiquitous Cameras”.

The Workshop

WearMMe is an half day Workshop on Wearable MultiMedia that will be held at the ACM International Conference on Multimedia Retrieval on June 6, 2017, in Bucharest, Romania.

Wearable devices are finally reaching the hardware requirements for achieving complex, interactive and personalized applications. This workshop proposes to tackle some of the hottest topics in the current academic and industrial scientific debate, such as wearable and embedded deep learning applications, multimodal sensor fusion or smart and ubiquitous healthcare.

While these topics are established in their respective communities, this workshop is one of the first events where scientist coming from machine learning backgrounds, hardware engineers and medical researchers can meet to discuss and develop the future of wearable devices.

We believe that many of active researchers in multimedia, computer vision, human-computer interaction, robotics, machine learning, across a wide-range of application domains, would be interested in progress in this area.

The workshop scope, while focused on wearable computing, gives a broad range of fertile research areas where our community is quite active in research, but progress towards truly autonomous, wearable computing systems remains an open “grand challenge” problem.
