Long Bio
Federico Pernici is an Associate Professor at the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Florence
He received his Master’s Degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Florence in 2002. He obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Engineering, Multimedia, and Telecommunications (DIIMT) from the same university in 2006, focusing on computer vision topics such as multiple view geometry, visual tracking, and incremental learning. In 2005, he spent a period as Visiting Scholar at the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles, USA.
From 2006 to 2014, he worked as a research fellow (assegnista di ricerca) at the University of Florence. Subsequently, from January 2014 to December 2016, he served as an Assistant Professor (Ricercatore a Tempo Determinato, Art. 24, comma 3, letter a, Italian Law 240/2010). After another period as a research fellow (2016–2022), since June 1, 2022, he has held the position of Assistant Professor (Ricercatore a Tempo Determinato, Art. 24, comma 3, letter b, Italian Law 240/2010) at the University of Florence. On February 2, 2020, he obtained the Italian National Scientific Qualification (ASN) as Associate Professor in the field 09/H1 (Information Processing Systems).
He is an associate editor of Machine Vision and Application. His scientific interests are machine learning and computer vision with focus on different aspects of visual tracking.
